Karsh's 101 in 1001

The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (i.e. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (i.e. represent some amount of work on your part).
The list was completed on New Year's Day, so 1001 days from now will be September 28, 2010. I'll be 29 years old by the time I finish these, so let's go!

  1. Move out of Atlanta.
  2. Learn to drive.
  3. Buy a condo.
  4. Backtag all entries on this site.
  5. Take one of my many unfinished short stories, and flesh the idea out into a novel length piece.
  6. Develop BlackComix into more than just ideas in my head, whether it's detailed character profiles, a limited edition ashcan comic…something.
  7. Get a boyfriend of more than 6 months.
  8. Lose 20 pounds.
  9. Visit the new World of Coca-Cola museum.
  10. Visit Paris, Toronto or Montreal.
  11. Get a new desk chair.
  12. Take Amtrak somewhere.
  13. See a performance at the Fox Theatre.
  14. Attend a trivia night at a restaurant…and win!
  15. Fly a kite in Piedmont Park.
  16. Get professional pictures taken.
  17. Enroll in an educational program in web design, graphic design or writing.
  18. Watch Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin and Akira in their entirety.
  19. Buy a gig bag for my trombone.
  20. Go on a road trip/day trip.
  21. Save $2000 (or more) by saving at least $50 per paycheck.
  22. Visit D.C.
  23. Visit the Bay Area in California.
  24. Get on a game show (or at least in the audience).
  25. Crash my family reunion.
  26. Enter an original work of mine into a writing contest.
  27. Attend a wine tasting class.
  28. Read one book a month, all consisting of books I already own, but have not read. (0/33)
  29. Keep live flowers or green plants in the apartment for one month.
  30. Update my Flickr stream at least once a week for 1001 days.
  31. Beat my current Xbox360 (Mass Effect and Dead Rising) and Wii (Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Resident Evil 4, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and The Godfather Blackhand Edition) games before buying any new games on the respective systems. This doesn't include games I already have on pre-order.
  32. Attend SXSW.
  33. Get my Master's degree.
  34. Completely obliterate my credit card and income tax debt, and keep it obliterated.
  35. Start back podcasting, and continue doing it once a week for six months. (0/24)
  36. Redesign this blog.
  37. Buy a new laptop (MacBook).
  38. Start or join a local writing group for gay men of color.
  39. Get a new passport.
  40. Renew my library card, and visit the Central Library at least once a month for six months to check out materials.
  41. Start merchandising or advertising options for the Black Weblog Awards for added revenue.
  42. Keep a permanent, full-time job for over a year.
  43. Enlist the help of a professional accountant for my taxes.
  44. List 101 things that make me happy.
  45. Visit ten (10) local art galleries.
  46. Fully organize my 13,000+ MP3 collection, including proper tagging and album art.
  47. Buy a new microwave.
  48. Make a recipe book using Tastebook.
  49. Rollover my old 401(k) into an IRA.
  50. Visit Uncle Buddy and his kids over in Dallas.
  51. Learn how to create Wordpress themes.
  52. Write my own Wordpress plugin.
  53. Start travelling to more places south of I-20 via MARTA.
  54. Cut out all unnecessary and unfulfilling social relationships.
  55. Start learning Portuguese.
  56. Learn to handle my mother better.
  57. Have a real life mentee.
  58. Take a professional voice-over class.
  59. Take a sleep analysis.
  60. Purchase a new couch for the living room.
  61. Purchase a new coffee table for the living room.
  62. Learn a new bleeding edge programming language (Ruby on Rails, Flex, Adobe AIR, etc.).
  63. Complete a month of NaNoWriMo.
  64. Write a living will.
  65. Pay off my student loans.
  66. Take a cruise somewhere.
  67. Optimize and secure my home Wi-Fi network.
  68. Achieve a dual-screen monitor work setup at home.
  69. Practice my trombone at least once a week for 30 minutes or longer for at least three months. (0/12)
  70. Throw a dinner party.
  71. Complete another "31 Days of Design" meme.
  72. Commit to meditating for at least 30 minutes twice a day for a month. (0/60)
  73. Buy bookshelves for my book collection.
  74. Completely organize and tag my del.icio.us bookmarks.
  75. Get back in touch with a few select friends from high school (not Golden Boy).
  76. Visit five new major metropolitan cities. (0/5)
