I heard a commercial on the radio for that movie and when they got to the rating, I was like WTF??

I thought the comment on the imdb site "In another life he could have made it as an actor" (referring to Jakes) was pretty ironic. He's made a pretty good living as an actor in THIS life, I'd say…..

It stars Kimberly Elise, recently seen opposite Denzel Washington in "The Manchurian Candidate," as Michelle Jordan, a victim of childhood abuse who becomes a criminal and winds up on Death Row. The fictional story intersperses graphic scenes of sexual abuse, drug use and domestic violence with Jakes preaching a Los Angeles revival and ministering to the condemned prisoner.

I got it from some email that someone sent me…the kind that black folks send out anytime we have a new movie out…but it does explain the R rating
