I will be using something OTHER than Flickr to get photos up on the blog.
What’s been happening is that I’ve been uploading photos, organizing them into sets, and then they’ve disappeared. I consulted the help section of the website only to get an e-mail back saying if I wanted to see my photosets, I’d have to fork over $42 for a Flickr Pro account.
Hmph.
So…..I will be looking for other image display “services” which work well with WordPress. Any suggestions?
I know people on the WP boards talk about Coppermine. It sounds like too much work to me, but you’re savvy like that so I’m sure you’d be able to figure it out. ;-)
Looks nice…I’ll definitely check this out.
I’v seen this, WordPress Photoblog implemented on a couple of sites. Check it out!
Very interesting…nice side project.
I use Hello! I’m new to the blogosphere, not sure how it compares. But it seems to work well for my purposes.
I know Blogger and Hello are sister companies, but I think their blog posting capabilities only extend to Blogger-powered blogs. Meh.
Sounds like someone is in need a a quick paypal donation and the flickr gallery plugin.
Gah! I thought you were tempting me with some PayPal donations. Shit. That Flickr gallery plugin was what initially started me to venture into Flickr actually.
Let me find out ur pixs are high jacked… Lmao… Can’t you use snapfish?
Flickr actually did jack my sets (LOL – that sounds real 90′s-ish). Never heard of Snapfish though; a quick persual of the site reminds me of Shutterfly or Ofoto. Might be a little too suburban for my tastes. I like to get in and muck some code. Yeah!
Actually, I’m not sure if you want something hosted or something that runs on your server, but I’ve developed an affinity for Markku Seguerra’s iPAP. I tried Coppermine, I’ve used Gallery. I feel iPAP’s the better of the three in terms of usability and customisation—it can be integrated into your blog’s layout with minimal hassle (this was a plus for me). I was interested in Pictorialis, but I think that involves using a heavily modded version of WordPress, which was MAJOR turn off. Hope this helps.
Ooooooh! And you can permalink albums! Me likey!
I just started using Flickr, mainly because I like the way it integrates with Blogger (which is what I continue to use because even though I would like more sophistication in my blog I am too indolent to move to WordPress) .
The other service I use for my photos is Photobox.co.uk although this does take more work to integrate into a Blog it does have the advantage of allowing you access to all the capabilities and you can earn money from your images if anyone purchased a print. A similar service in the USA is Zazzle.com.
If all else fails, use Yahoo Photos or MSN Groups. If you look at the 1000 Words project on my blog all the images are linked MSN Photo images – which is good becasue I do not get charged for the heavy download traffic by my ISP.
i have used coppermine and i currently use 4images. coppermine was easy to install and work with, i used fantantisco to upload 4 images. good luck.
I recommend two things:
1. You post them to the coppermine gallery I’ll soon have up at Black Bloggers Assn.
2. You check out coppermine for your own blog.
