Casting Call
Posted on 01/26/05 @ 4:51 pm

Received the following in my e-mail. I'd do it but…you know. Too young and all.

If you are a gay male between the ages of 25-40 who is estranged from your father or any member of your family please email a short description of yourself and of your situation. Please tell us if there are any significant events coming up that you would like to share with the person you are estranged from (ie, marriage, adoption, etc.)

We are currently casting for FX series "30 DAYS", a documentary-style, unscripted series from award-winning filmmaker Morgan Spurlock. Show adapts for TV the concept of Spurlock's critically-acclaimed "Super Size Me".

OK…I'm a little tapped for material here. Ask me anything…no subject's too taboo. Comments are open. Have at it.

Baker's Dozen - Risin' Like Yeast, Baby!
Posted on 01/24/05 @ 12:37 pm
  1. As most of you already know, I no longer work for…the place that I worked for. I could wax poetic about it being a means to an end (well, I mean, I did mean for it to end), but all's been said and done. Like Bernie told me, no one can ride your back unless you're bent over.
  2. Déjà vu, right?
  3. Death-Phoenix suggests I go to graduate school. Now I've been flirting with the idea, but moreso entertained the notion of another Bachelor's in a field I love (writing, multimedia, etc.). Graduate school? I could go for Math, but I'm still spent from undergrad's four years. Now I know how women feel who have one child and stop. Pushing that thesis out was moiduh! Going back to school is definitely an option though. As Death-Phoenix puts it, "It's the only thing you did well for more than a year and was still in it." Moms.
  4. The job search has been going swimmingly (who thought I'd be using that adverb outside of a Tom Swifty? Thanks Boys' Life!). My headhunters are out finding me some good positions, and Rod has been helping me out with his connections. I also bent the ears of a few old leads, tossed the resume around, and — surprisingly enough — received leads from ex co-workers coupled with we-miss-you's and you're-a-brave-man's. Brave? Me?
  5. I just realized something…I left both my thumb drive and my books on computer networking and Java 2 at my old desk. Shit.
  6. Misery is expected to peak on Monday, as January 24th has been pinpointed as the worst day of the year. Now I like equations as much as the next mathematician, but 1/8W+(D-d) 3/8xTQ MxNA seems a highly suspect equation to formulate misery. Are there even scientific units for that?
  7. Somehow, more gentlemen are courting my fancy now that I'm unemployed than when I had a job. Talk about a paradigm shift….
  8. The return of Apollo. 'Nuff said.
  9. Opportunity and I went out and about Saturday evening riding around the city, stopping at familiar haunts, and just having a good ol' time. As I stood in line at a Kroger near Downtown Decatur, the gold-toothed security guard informed me of the following: "DeKalb County stop sellin' likka at 'leven thirty-five, but you can get 'cho drank on in Fulton County all night long." Duly noted. Thirty minutes and $8.63 later, we were passed out at my apartment off a six-pack of Newcastle Brown Ale.
  10. The wind! The wind! This weekend was definitely not a time time to be without gloves. Once I felt my fingers going numb from waiting for the bus for 30 minutes, I had to raincheck my Sunday morning brunch date at Javamonkey.
  11. Desperate Housewives! How have I missed this show for so long? I mean, it's got Miguel from Passions on it! *swoon* Trent, are ya feelin' me?
  12. And as always, PayPal donations are most graciously accepted.

Housekeeping
Posted on 01/23/05 @ 9:41 pm

I just installed the latest nightly of Wordpress and I am loving it like Mickey D's! More updates to follow…this is just too damn nice! Oh, and the theme will likely change many times until I find one I like.

Update: There's something on here where you can make static pages; I may utilize that into some sort of gallery area. I dunno yet. I do want the colors for this redesign to be orange, so I have this tentative mess up until I can think of something fly. So far, I've done a few stylesheet tweaks, but I really want to learn how to change the <ol> and <li> elements for the comments. And the font is looking big and spaced out on the sidebar. I'll come to fix that in due time as well. Meanwhile, enjoy the site.

And yes, I know it looks like ass. In. Due. Time.
