Diary of a Mad Black Woman
Posted on 02/25/05 @ 10:26 pm

There are many great plays which when translated to the big screen prove to be just as successful as their theatre counterparts. With good casting and a solid adherence to the original plot, many stage-to-screen adaptations hit the mark and leave you wanting more. Diary of a Mad Black Woman, however, just plain sucks. (This does contain spoilers, but if the first sentence didn't warn you…read on.) (more…)

Last Two Dollars
Posted on 02/24/05 @ 12:30 am

In an attempt to try the world outside my Windows™, I haven't been online much. I've been out walking, out to the grocery store, and even went to Barnes & Noble without buying anything (it was hard). I also haven't been online much because it's 70 degrees in Atlanta and these thunderstorms have my power unreliably cutting off on me. My neighbors have been taking advantage of the sudden showers; why just earlier today two Mexicans were outside washing the car. I guess when the water's free….

So this whole unemployed bit is starting to wear thin…as well as my money reserves. I do have one position down the pipe which I am praying to God, Jesus, Buddha and Oprah for to get, so I've been quite hush-hush about it. I'm really beginning to believe that talking about it could really jinx it.

Speaking of jinxing things, I came reeeeeeeeeal close yesterday to calling either Opportunity or Apollo. I realize how desperate this makes me, but I'm lonely, shit. It's just me in the apartment, and the only people who call are bill collectors asking me when am I going to get a job so I can pay them. IM'ing is OK, but after a while, it'd be nice to interact in person instead of through a computer screen. Damn cabin fever. In an ideal world, I'd be like Kottke and just take on this blog full-time for donations, but I don't get that much love. Can a brutha get some love, or do I just need to get a job?

Don't answer that.

  1. American Idol - did the boys suck or WHAT? Save Anwar and Scott, the rest of those losers can hit the road, jack.
  2. Ego Trip's "Dude, Where's My Ghetto Pass" (and the rest of the series); if you're not watching this, you need to check it out.
  3. Imposed disparity of Black techies in discussions, dialogues and discourses concerning technology in the 21st century (see Tiffany B. Brown for an example)
  4. Update! Today is Free Mojtaba and Arash Day. Getting fired for blogging is one thing; getting put in jail because of it is a whole 'nother ballpark. Civil liberties are something most of us take for granted.

Discuss among yourselves. C'mon people…let's get something going here.
