Another Christmas has come and gone and…well…I dunno. It felt like just another day. I don't know if it was because it was on a Sunday, but holidays don't hold a lot of precedence for me aside from it being a paid holiday off of work. My family certainly didn't celebrate any holidays for fun reasons — it was just a day of reprieve from The Man. So when it comes to fireworks on the 4th, a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving or a masquerade ball on Halloween, it all feels like pagentry to me. Christmas? It's for the kids. Holiday spirit? You're talkin' egg nog, right? As far as the present round-up goes, I got nearly everything I wanted — rather, everything I could afford. Unlike last year, I didn't break the bank buying gifts for people because a) the money wasn't there and b) neither were those same people. Death to Shakespeare was in town for the past week at my place making my life a living hell, wondering why I work 10-hour days, and how come I have cabinets stocked with tofu and rice instead of beans and lard. The reason for her co-habitating with me is because she got into it with Winston Shakespeare over calling his daughter a slut to her face because of her numerous piercings and tattoos. But now Death to Shakespeare is back home and pestering the family there — well, the family that's not in jail. Smokedawg is in a halfway house near Mobile, and Karsh Jr. is spending his Christmas in the county jail. And they wonder why I don't come home…. This Christmas was spent mostly in bed. I made a few calls, sent a few text messages and talked with Brown Delight and…Opportunity. Talking with him was…nice. We usually have pretty good conversations even though he's not a phone person. He's doing well — he's close to getting his degree and is working on a new business venture with some of his friends. And while I know it will never, ever, ever get back to the way things used to be, for that brief moment with our…it just felt really nice to be that close to him again. Moving on…. As far as I'm concerned, 2005 is over. The year ends on Christmas, and the week until the first of January is just a grace period. Overall, it's been a hell of a year, Now to wait and see what 2006 will hold. A new job? An actual boyfriend? Friends that don't cut and run when times get tough? Moving the hell out of Atlanta? Becoming a hermit? We'll see. Filed under: Personal Comments: Comments Off |

Grey skies. Cold temperatures. Cloyingly sweet co-workers. Another Christmas alone. Men who still ain't shit. With all of that, I was about to shut this place down yesterday. Can you believe that? Two and a half years and 596 posts strong and I was about to shut this down and make it nothing but a memory. But it wasn't for the reasons stated above. Wanna know why? These goddamn blogcasts. Or podcasts. Or whatever the hell they are (I'm still prone to calling them audioblogs — boy, that shows my age). Don't get me wrong…them shits are fun. And this last series really showed that a) people are listening to this shit and b) my audio quality is getting much better. I'm for real — Audacity is the bomb. As I touched on in my blogcast, I've been receiving a lot of negative comments and threats regarding this whole "Man of Morehouse" series. One of them threatened to shut my site down. And on most of the day Tuesday, BGB was down. I ain't naming no names, but I got my eye on you Roger Toussaint. I've gotten e-mails (and am still getting them, mind you) with people supplying my real name, my address…even a few phone calls. Phone calls, y'all. I'm at work minding my business, pick up the phone, and some rank ass queen on the other end squeaks out "Oooh…Karsh honey…you sound mo' fish…" and then hangs up. I'll admit; the shit had me spooked for a hot minute. I mean, BGB's not a dirty little secret, but when random ass folks start calling you out, it can be…sobering. But as Bernie reminded me…I can prosecute these threatening folks. And this kinda reminds me of when I did that whole black male blogger list like almost two years ago and a certain ex-magazine worker/blogger felt the need to call me out and my place of (then) employment on this blog. Really, what the fuck does that accomplish? Shit, I got half a mind to say who it was, but I'm not going there. That'd be stooping to their level. And really, if idle threats and shit cause me to shut down BlackGayBlogger.com, then wouldn't the terrorists have won? It's like the old saying goes — I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody. Or as it goes from the Book of Trent: Shout me a holler, fuck a fake bitch, and catch a brick hoes. So usually around this time of year, I go on hiatus for a spell. Call it resting up. But I think with my Chicago trip coming up and twelve days off, I'll definitely be in a writing mood. Hell, I might even post over at Metroblogging Atlanta — something I hadn't done in months. But I need something to write about. I mean, where do you go next after you've exposed the homosexual and homophobic underculture of the world's foremost institution of higher learning for Black men? You tell me. Comments are open. Filed under: Miscellaneous Comments: Comments |

Wow…who knew after just starting this blogcast back in October it would start to get the attention it has? You ruffle a few feathers by speaking about the "Black Harvard" and folks want to get all indignant and violent. What's that about? Anyway, this is the conclusion of the Man of Morehouse series. The Gregory Love and Aaron Price incident caused many heated debates among students, faculty and the Black gay community in Atlanta as a whole. And through all of this, I just wanted to graduate and leave with my degree and sanity intact. Without further adieu…the finale of Man of Morehouse.

Well whaddaya know…both my site as well as The Republic of T have been chosen as nominees for Best Gay Blog of 2005 by Best Gay Blogs. Go to the Best Gay Blogs Voting Page and choose either BlackGayBlogger.com or The Republic of T as your choice for Question #3. Did I mention that we are the only two black gay blogs out of over 100 nominees in that category? *cough*blackweblogawards*cough**cough* Also, Rod at the always-informative and amazing Rod2.0:beta has been nominated for Best Gay Popular Blog. Less nominees, but important nonetheless. It's Question #2 on the voting page. So don't forget to vote! Hell, go vote for all of us. Do it from your computer, clear your cache, reset your IP address and vote again. And again and again and again. Do it from a library. As long as either me or Terrence or Rod win it, I'll be satisfied. The winners will be announced on January 1, 2006. Also, a big round of applause for Pam Spaulding of Pam's House Blend for winning Best LGBT Blog in the 2005 Weblog Awards. Go sista! And when you're done, head on over to thatbitch.com and wish Huny a fond farewell. After nearly six years of blogging, she's retiring. She is truly a pioneer and a goddess in this Black blogging game and definitely deserves praise. Man, don't it feel good to be a part of this? Filed under: Miscellaneous Comments: Comments |

The best way to predict the future is to invent it. — Alan Kay There's less than 100 days left until my birthday. That's right — the big 2-5. Thinking forward, I am wondering what lies in store for 2006, what I want to accomplish, and where I want to be. Filed under: Personal Comments: Comments |
