  • As temperatures drop into the teens tonight here in Atlanta, there’s currently no heat for three local HBCUsSpelman, Clark-Atlanta, and my alma mater Morehouse. All I can do is sigh — yes, those students end up paying exorbitant amounts of tuition dollars, and their shared physical plant can’t even have a working boiler? I’m calling bullshit on this one. It makes no sense to have these kids bussed to a local YMCA when the schools should really have their shit in order. It’s sad, but really I’m laughing about it. All cute gay AUC boys are welcome to shack up with me until the heat comes back on in your dorms. Oh wait…finals are coming up, so maybe it’ll be fixed by the time y’all start back next semester.
  • Speaking of cold weather, why in the holy hell are weathermen surprised that it’s cold outside? Could it be because — horror of horrors — it’s December? Next you’ll be telling me temps in the 90s in August is a meteorological impossibility.
  • To all those asstards who are causing collateral damage to their personal electronics and windows from being a little too zealous with the Wii remote, I’m going to have to advise you to a) heed the directions that come on before EVERY Wii game that instructs you to use the attached strap b) don’t go flailing about like you’re having a seizure while playing and c) HOLD ON TO THE DAMN REMOTE! Seriously, this crap doesn’t make any sense. I’ve been playing my Wii now for a week and a half and I’ve not once let it fly out of my hands while playing, and my TV is by a huge window.

I can see some used Wiis going up by Christmas now….

  • I will be so glad when this statistics class is over. Chances are I’ll end up taking an C or a B- in the class, because at this point, I so don’t care. Between work, a terrible sleep schedule and crashing as soon as I get home, this class has just not factored into my life this season. That and I have to say…I’m becoming a little anti-math. Getting a degree in it then working in the real world where math is anathema in favor to kissing ass and being a crony will do that to you. Also, as much as I’d like to spend a wii-kend just dorking out, I actually have to study. Ugh.
  • As I was in Lenox Square trying to find a new black wool hat (note to self: next time, go to Target for the simple stuff), guess who I saw while I was in Macy’s? John Mark Karr! He was walking and talking in hushed tones with this young Asian chick (maybe about 13-14 years old). At first, I didn’t know if it was him or not, but then he made this expression…

    …and yeah, it was him.

  • So while I no longer work for Micro-Manager or with her flunkies, I’m still involved in some community affairs of which they are also a part of through my old job. Yeah, that’s what I get for being civic-minded, I guess. Anyway, Goofball was there also, and we had a little mini-reunion. Hortense is still ditzy, D.A.W.G. is still getting her way through a giggle and a tittie-bounce, and Captain Obvious now has cornrows. That girl wants to be Black so bad, bless her heart. But speaking of Micro-Manager…she made sure not to speak to either Goofball or I (which was preferable), and I think that negative karma came back to bite her in the ass…when her car got towed in the meeting! Her dumb ass ignored the “no parking” signs and got her car towed, where she also had her purse with all her bank cards and identification. I didn’t know what was more jarring, the fact that she started blaming EVERYONE in the meeting but herself or that she is actually in possession of a female accoutrement like a purse.
  • Via TV Squad: This American Life may becoming to TVs nationwide! This might be just the thing to get me to sign up for some premium channels. I love me some TAL.
  • On a DVD run today, I ran across a gem…The Newsroom Season 1. If you haven’t seen this show (which is likely since it’s Canadian), I highly recommend putting it in your Netflix queue and checking it out. Another fave show of mine, The IT Crowd, will be coming to DVD soon. If you’ve never seen this show, all the shows are available to download via Bittorrent.
  • Alright…I guess I should go and do some stuff for class so I can get my mandatory credit.
