More Weird Spam
Posted on 05/20/07 @ 10:36 pm

Usually, I just delete the spam I get (which is a LOT of spam), but this one in particular was crafty enough to weasel into my inbox. The bolded part kinda made me read it twice though:

Ok now who wouldn't want to stay at there own place each day without having to get up before the sun, get all ready, fight traffic and do it all again the very next day?????

Well I know I DON'T and I tell you it is the best thing thats happened to me. I get to stay in my PJ's if I want, have a bedhead, sleep in if I want to, have time for more then one morning coffee and save a bundle on gas and alot of my time is not wasted.

Well I invite you to give me a ring, listen to what I have to say for just a few quick minutes anytime of day or night. Let me share with you how if you have a telephone, can return calls each day and how it will enable you to generate upwards of 3k each and every week.

This is not a joke or some messed up scheme but in fact something myself and others are doing every day. In fact so many people look for something like this on the internet that it is one of the top searched subjects going.

So take a few minutes, ring me at XXX.XXX.XXXX and hear me out.

I enter the house. Mia is busy washing clothes. I grab her from her shoulders and make her stand right in front of me so close that we feel our breaths hitting our faces, our hearts listen to each other's beats, or eyes play with together, and I, taking her hands into mine, thrust our fingers together.

Thanks For Your Time and I hope we here from you shortly. If you decide that this is not anything you wish to learn more about thats ok juts let me know. You have my address.

What's the job they're hiring for, at-home romance novel writers?

  • I don't think I'll ever get enough of Final Fantasy IV. Along with Final Fantasy VI, they are my favorite installments in the entire Square Enix series. Now, FFIV is getting the same 3D remake as FFIII. And while I've played and beat both the SNES and GBA versions, I'm still going to buy this one. And beat it. Because that's what modern, cool nerds do.

  • From my earlier post, I've actually managed to get the old computer back up and running. Turns out the power supply completely shorted out, so I bought a new one and now it's up. I'm probably gonna turn into a Linux file server, especially since there's some pretty cool things you can do on Linux that you can't do on Windows.

  • I love the African-American Opinion Blog, but I think it's in sore need of a redesign. (hint hint)

  • Speaking of the AAOB, I learned through them this notion: The Black Blogging Manifesto. I like the intent, but the approach lacks a certain endearing quality. I really think that folks don't understand that when starting a blog, everyone kinda starts at the low end of the totem pole. It's important to understand that, and then build forward.

  • For those who might've been wary about venturing into loose leaf teas (and really, why would you?), these Japanese self-seal teabags should help in that transition. You'd think Teavana would sell these, but I guess they get twice the profit on their self-straining teapots.

  • And I have to ask…why in the hell are these dudes humping this ottoman like this? I mean, I know I'm gay…but even this looks suspect to me. We shouldn't have never given y'all Youtube! NEVER! See what happens when you take sex ed out of the schools?

The frontPart of the unexplained lack of posts since the beginning of this year has been because my old computer has been crapping out on me left and right. Now I've had the Magi now for almost five years. As far as technology goes, that shit is kinda sad. I mean, I'm a definite neophile through and through, but when it came to my box at home, I just kept it chugging along at bare minimum, doing what I needed to do it to make it survive.

And then the shit hit the fan in February.

This was when I was told to start taking more work home, which was going to be an issue since the old computer can't handle running Dreamweaver and Photoshop at the same time, which for me, would double the time it takes to design.

Then along came Woot, and I got a new computer.

Thing is…the damn thing came kinda broken. My Flickr set shows how it was when I first got it, but once I restarted the computer, it wouldn't boot to the OS. Bugger. So I switched back to the old computer and tried to get online to HP's website, but the old computer now wouldn't connect to the Internet. Great! Thank God for Knoppix LiveCD, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get online to use HP's live chat in order to talk to a support person.

Now, I don't know when HP decided it would be cute to not include recovery CDs with computers and then have you pay $30 from HP in the event your computer goes down, but it's a jack move. A complete jack move. I felt like Johnnie Cochran trying to explain to the HP tech support representative that I just bought the computer and should get the discs for free. I mean, there has to be some sort of supplemental warranty, right?

HP sent the discs, but in the meantime, I tried to resuscitate the computer through a series of reinstalls of other operating systems, but they all fell flat primarily because they required the correct drivers for the network card which — surprise, surprise — I had to wait to get from HP in the form of their recovery discs.

The discs came, and to no surprise, they wouldn't work. The OEM discs that came were not bootable (retarded!) and the supplemental disc had no sort of instructions for installation. Thanks for the free coasters, HP.

Now here I've spent $400 on a new Media Center PC and can't even run Windows XP on it because I can't connect to the 'net to get drivers. Now I'm out of TWO computers, because the old one now won't even turn on anymore (I think it sensed the competition and died in its sleep). Fed up and pissed off, Goofball and I went to Fry's and bought a Windows Vista Ultimate OEM CD and I brought my computer back to life. (I would also recommend to ANYONE who is looking to buy new Windows software to ALWAYS get the OEM CD…it's much cheaper.)

I know what you're thinking…"Karsh, why didn't you just get a Mac?" Actually, during this whole computer issue, I was very close to grabbing an iMac once my tax refund came in, but once the new computer got back up and running, that went completely out the window. And I still haven't spent enough time really tinkering around on a Mac to buy one flat out. I've gotta kick the tires around, so to speak. And those 'tards in the Apple Stores at Lenox and Perimeter are always shooing me off the machines when I do go to try one out. Guess you gotta have a fistful of cash in hand to do so.

Anyway, the new computer is up and running smoothly. I'm not in love with Vista by any means — Explorer still crashes whenever the wind blows, and Windows Media Player is a pain in the ass to uninstall — but it's better than nothing.

For now.

Everyone Should Know….
Posted on 05/12/07 @ 7:11 pm

via 71.West: When East Simply Won't Do:

What turns you on?
What turns you out?
What's your favorite secret thing?
What gives you peace?
How are you powerful?
What are you willing to give away?

These things are transparent to the people around us. But, we're often blind to that which is most obvious to others. Can you see yourself?

And you know I'm gonna answer 'em.

What turns you on?
Intelligence and eloquence. Confidence. Guys that are doing something positive with their lives, but not expecting you to do two snaps and a back flip over it because others aren't. I like humility. I like silent power. And I like guys that are friendly.

What turns you out?
Hahaha…does that mean in the bedroom? Or just the stuff that blows my mind in a positive way? I'll do a little from both columns. I'm into some light bondage and S&M and definitely more into being dominant than submissive. Uniforms are a plus. Nothing too kinky, mind you, but dirty talk is a huge plus.

OK…let's bring it back to a G-rated territory: I really love dudes that do their own thing. They're bold, but not flamboyant. They're outspoken, but not loud and bitchy. They're confident, but not cocky and arrogant. Someone that's open and friendly, but not desperate. It's a fine line to walk, and most stray towards the extreme, you know? That whole "gay and faaaaabulous" stereotype is played the fuck out. It's 2007; man up!

What's your favorite secret thing?
My favorite secret thing? I like to be in control. I guess that's not really a secret, though. I know when to relinquish that control, and I know when to reel it back in. I also like to be elusive and a little mysterious. I think it's good to always keep 'em discovering and wanting to know more. I've had that issue with putting it all out there before. Granted, Karsh is who I am, but it's not all of who I am.

What gives you peace?
Not having any distractions. We live in a time where there are a lot of different things vying for our attention that it's important to take time and unplug from all of that — the technology, from work, from school — and just relax in solitude. Oh, not to mention those five minutes right before falling asleep. A little bit of heaven.

How are you powerful?
I'm doing my own thing, I'm supporting myself, I'm true to myself, and what I say matters. I'm powerful because I'm here.

What are you willing to give away?
My knowledge and experience, if only so others could learn from it. Damn, that sounds vain.

Umm…what I meant to say was…actually, I'm sticking with the above statement. 'Nuff said.
