- Thunderbird handles spam well. Perhaps too well though; I checked my spam folder for this e-mail address and saw a whole bunch of private Twitter messages and freelance leads there. I need to set up some better filters, methinks.
- Well this article caught my eye: Father Accused of Beating Son for Bad Grades. Now as a kid, it was understood early on: bring home tests and report cards full of As, or go break off a switch. And you know what? I brought home the As. And when I didn't, I got the switch…but I don't think it was to the point where I felt the shit the next day, you know? If you spare the rod, are you really spoiling the child? What say you?
- Racial insensitivity and stupidity abounds these days, it seems. From the news:
- I cancelled my Match.com subscription recently. It was good at first, going through potential paramours and winking and such. And I even had a few decent dates from it. But you know it's time to go when you get your Matches in the mail, and half of them are women. Whatcha trying to say, Match.com?
- The fifth (!) season of College Hill will be filmed right here in the ATL. Take that, The Real World! No, seriously…take it. Please!
- The new version of 9rules debuts today; I'm excited to see what changes will happen.
- GameTrailers.com has a two-part series on Japan's culture of video game titled "Japan: Culturally Biased" (part 1, 2). However, there's not really anything in the video taking about a "cultural bias" (it's a lot of "I don't really get it" type statements); it's more about a genre bias (Japanese game designers create a fun, engaging fantasy experience; American game designers create licensed franchises and shoot-em-up boring gorefests). Anyone with half a brain about gaming knows that the American gaming industry pretty much panders to the average White gamer with a hard-on about FPS, bikini babes, senseless violence and the Xbox360 (Halo 3? Yeah, I'll pass, thanks). Reminds me that I need to get my entry together on race and gaming…it's long overdue.
- Speaking of gaming, I was just on the lookout for a gaming blog from the perspective of a person of color, and I ran across Konsole Kings. They're run here out of Atlanta, and there's a heavy dose of booty girls, hip-hop and gaming. I guess two out of three ain't bad for me.
- I finally got a chance to eat at Pappadeaux this weekend. Two words: seafood heaven. Hell, I'm gonna go ahead and proclaim now that my birthday dinner will be at Pappadeaux. March 18 y'all…save the date!
