The past 96 hours have more than made up for all the fuckery which 2007 threw at me. And it's all thanks to Che. Real talk: ever since Opportunity took himself out of the picture, rebounding has been slow and mainly ineffectual. Luckily, I've had work and personal projects like the Black Weblog Awards to throw myself into in order to assuage the guilt of the split and refocus my thoughts. You know…a diversion tactic. For the most part, it's worked…but given the double whammy of getting laid off and the identity theft, I've now had time to revisit that soft spot. Then again, there's not that many prospects in the field, if you know what I mean. So one night while I'm searching for jobs on Atlanta Craigslist, I decide to navigate on over to the "Men Seeking Men" section just to see what's available. Now, I know what you're thinking…Atlanta Craigslist? Well, it's very light in terms of commitment. There's no signing up for a profile, constraining your thoughts to 450 characters or less or waiting until pictures are approved to post them. Then again, that's both good and bad since it can attract anyone from the criminally insane to the Hunchback of Notre Dame. But finding great ads are like searching for a needle in a haystack. And it was just my luck that I pricked myself on a needle of an ad. Che.
We chatted online, traded pictures and phone numbers, and he came over the next day (from Carrollton). And things were pretty much a whirlwind from there. From the not-so-subtle homoerotic connotations in Naruto to talk about our alma maters, the attraction and the passion was strong. Really strong. Good too. And just so you don't think I'm yadda-yadda-yaddaing over the best part, we also discussed our political beliefs over French toast and fried shrimp, slept together, and woke up and watched The Fairly Oddparents and Spongebob Squarepants while cuddled up on the couch. See? Nice and well-rounded. We met up again to head to a New Year's Eve get-together his sister was hosting, and had a romantic dinner and liquor store run before heading there. The rest of the evening was…an adventure. Getting lost on Tech's campus, a 3am IHOP run, a few moments of detached reality…and a wrestling match. We spent the morning eating cereal and discussing photography, computers, socialism and newspaper layouts. He even left from here wearing my Cherry Pi t-shirt. We'll probably meet up again on Friday for karaoke with Goofball and Milk-Chan, then I'll head back with him to a fundraising party for the Young Socialists. I should also probably mention that Che is a fucking babe. Whoo…hot hot hot. Hot. So for the first time in a long ass time — hell, probably for the first time ever if I don't count Oppor-what's-his-face — I can say I'm really feeling someone who is also feeling me with the same intensity. Quid pro quo on that ass. It's nice. Technorati Tags: dating, internet, love life, new year's day, new year's eve, relationship Filed under: Love in the Life Comments: Comments |
