"I'm busy." I find myself saying that more than my own name these days. Long hours at work plus long hours at home with schoolwork divided by short hours of sleep and rest equal one blasé blogger. One blasé person, really — I've mustered brief periods of interest when discussing current events (Atlanta, this presidential primary season, etc.), but for the most part, I couldn't possibly care less about a lot of things. (Well, except for Check on Friday™.) So you can imagine that I am looking forward to my vacation with great excitement. Actually, it's ten days away from today! Granted, I'm not really going to a resort town — Rochester, NY — but it will be like a real, grown-up like vacation for me. For starters, it's the first vacation I've taken where I'm not staying in some shitty BnB or sleeping on someone's couch/futon/fuck pallete. I shelled out for a room in one of the city's finest hotels with a bottle of chilled champagne waiting for me upon check-in. I'll also be in town to catch the tail end of the Rochester International Jazz Festival, which will be a real treat; I'll get to listen to some of my favorite artists perform, including Soulive, Al Green, The Sliding Hammers, Beady Belle, the Soul Rebels Brass Band, Catherine Russell, and a whole slew of others. On top of that, I'll get to hang out with Twin and Triplet for the first time since their wedding. Twin even mentioned going to Toronto one of the days I'm there, but I don't know how long that'd take. Outside of that, it'll be five days and four nights of no work, no school, and no worries. And after the year I've had so far, it's long overdue. Start the countdown! Filed under: Personal Comments: Comments Off |
