You might remember from the last podcast where I mentioned the possibility of landing a huge contract with a potential political client. It’s safe to say now that it’s probably not in the cards. My partners and I called him the day before our contract signing to make sure there was Wi-Fi available in his office so we could get him set up, and he put the kibosh on all our work. To throw more salt in the wound, he ended off with saying “and that’s just how it’s gon’ be”. Fuck. The biggest loss for me though was the time taken away from furthering my own business so I could make my own money (instead of chasing down an old Black man for his coins and his failed political campaign) which now puts me in a rather precarious financial position going into April. Great way to celebrate my birthday, don’t you think? Today, I had a come to Jesus talk with my business partners and laid it out for them — if I don’t get some cash this month, I’m leaving the business. I think they’re great guys, and together, we have a great product to offer to those who need it and can afford it. But I refuse to put in any more 8-10 hour days without getting some scratch. Whether we’re at a restaurant or a coffeehouse, it costs money to just meet up. Both of them have money (or rather, they have more money than me), so balling out for a week or so is no problem for them. Also, neither of them have to pay rent (lucky bastards). Yours truly, on the other hand, is breaking out major cash a month, and it’ll probably go up again in July. So with that, I’m turning my focus back on what I know will make me some money — my web design business. I kinda feel duped for putting in this much for a whole month while my own shit suffers, so I’m gonna hit the hustle hard. If you need a website, by all means hit me up using the contact form and let’s make it happen. Serious replies only. Jesus, that last bit sounded like a desperate personal ad. Don’t forget that I’m giving away 1000 free business cards and an 18″x24″ canvas print on my birthday (3/18) courtesy of UPrinting.com.
