Since I was tagged by J. nearly a week ago, I figured I’d go ahead and give my reply. (Chances are if you’ve read this blog at any length, you already know some of these answers.)

Rules

  • Link to the person who tagged you.
  • Post six things that make you happy along with these rules.
  • Then tag six others (letting them know, of course)
  • Let the person who tagged you know when your entry is complete.

My 6 things

  1. Being appreciated. Despite my love/hate relationship with recognition (thanks to a childhood spent in the spotlight), being appreciated for what I do and who I am (without unending questions or milquetoast tolerance) is always a good thing.
  2. Being in control. My mother always said that I was a difficult child to raise because I always wanted to do things my way or tell other people how to do things my way. It appears that stubborn personality trait has followed me well into adulthood, although I know now that leading does sometimes mean stepping aside to hear others. But if you leave it to me, it’s mine, and I’m running it how I want it ran.
  3. Solitude. Quiet, quiet, quiet. Whether it was at work or in other social situations, I always ended up being around people that love to talk to hear themselves talk. (I’m actually pretty chatty at times though.) After all that though, I just like coming home, turning off the phone, and appreciating the stillness.
  4. Tea. OK, so this one kinda surprised me the more I thought about it. I revealed on Twitter about a month back my tea hideaway. I’ve got a whole cabinet (two shelves) in my kitchen with just tea. I like finding new teas, drinking new teas, making new tea blends, and just being quiet and drinking tea. (Perhaps I was a monk in a former life.)
  5. Writing. Sadly, I don’t do it enough. These T-Minus posts are the closest thing to consistent blogging I’ve done in a while. However, I still have stories to tell, and I love being able to take them from my head and put them on paper, especially because characters, plot, and dialogue always change once I actually see my ideas on the page.
  6. Love. I know I’m happiest when I’m loved and in love. Granted, the times when I feel both are few and far in between, but I enjoy them when they come.

I tag…everyone. Have your own stab at it.

Don’t forget that I’m giving away 1000 free business cards and an 18″x24″ canvas print on my birthday (3/18) courtesy of UPrinting.com. Just leave a comment on the entry “Snooty Designers, Eh?” and follow the rules to become eligible.
