We Have A Winner!
Posted on 03/18/09 @ 1:00 pm

Drumroll please.

Actually…cut the drumroll.

Only four people entered the contest. Five if you count the person who snuck in a comment after the contest ended. (Sorry Angie.) I have some more companies lined up who are willing to do giveaways on the site, but I'm a little disappointed in the turnout, especially since I've been plugging it for the past ten days or so. I don't even know if I want to do another giveaway.

But I'll try one more (maybe in April) and see what the turnout's like.

Now, without further ado, the winners (chosen randomly by random.org):

1000 Free Business Cards: Gem2001
18″x24″ Canvas Print: Anthony

And just as a show of solidarity and, well, because it's my birthday, I'm also going to send the other three entrants free codes so they can get 1000 free business cards. (I didn't leave you out, Angie.) The codes expire on 3/31, so cash 'em in quick. (You will have to pay shipping though.)

Thanks to you all for participating, and hopefully, the next giveaway will get more steam behind it.

What Would You Like To See Here?
Posted on 02/03/09 @ 10:13 pm

Lately I've been doing an experiment in advertising and taking some freebies from PR firms. One of my recent posts, Workout: Pumping House, was one of those freebies. And because I know you folks are an opinionated lot, here's one of the e-mails I received:

No offense, but I don't really come here to read the same crap that's on other gay blogs. Did you listen to this? It's terrible! I'm surprised you would even post this; I'd expect this kinda stuff from Towleroad or something, but not from you. Not from this blog.

Ouch. Well, I do have another freebie coming, but now I'm hesitant about posting it. It's not really what I'd listen to, and from the e-mails I received, you don't listen to it either. (Why not comment instead of e-mailing though? How about that?) So tell me readers, what would you like to see here? I don't want to just put up anything; I want there to be value for you and me. Lemme have it, fam. Comments are open.

Pardon Our Dust
Posted on 12/15/08 @ 2:25 am

Over the weekend, I made a few changes both in front and back of the house here at BGB:

  • I've upgraded to Wordpress 2.7, which means everything behind the scenes is all nice and shiny and new.
  • Most of the old plugins have been scrapped (several of them mimicked functionality which is now native to this version of Wordpress).
  • IntenseDebate is used now as the new commenting system (we'll see how long it lasts before I tire of it).

Of course, this now means I have to start blogging more, which I will starting on Monday. If you haven't been following my Twitter stream, some exciting developments have occurred which I want to discuss. And maybe, just maybe, I'll get around to putting a new design on here. I've only been saying I'll do so for what…two years now?

Jesus Christ, this current design is still done in tables.

Anywho, new entries starting Monday. Promise.
